Chinese, 6th century BC (Spring and Autumn Period), globular vessel with crisply cast exterior decoration with two dense bands of leiwen scrolls separated by bowstring on the body, widely spaced pendent lappets, which are detailed with mask motifs, hang from the lower register, supported on three tall feet, pair of curved upright handles to sides, three additional bronze rings set in the lid, which is cast with three bands of stylized dragon scrolls, encircling further leiwen, patination of cuprite, azurite, and botryoidal malachite are on most surfaces, 14-1/2 x 12-7/8 x 14-1/4 in.;
