(Nigerian, 1928-2009) three carved wood figures: female fertility figure, a kneeling woman with child, woman holding an oval bowl, platform base, 14-3/4 in., [good condition]; musician playing a horn, 19-1/2 in., [drying cracks at base;] musician with beard and elaborate headdress playing percussion instruments, "5" in marker, 14-3/4 in., [good condition,] all three figures incised "LO Fakeye" . Notes: Fakeye is a fifth generation Nigerian carver who was featured in a 1999 Smithsonian exhibition. His carving appear in many private and institutional collections such as the Indianapolis Art Museum and Kennedy Center of Performing Arts.. Provenance: Gift to James Hughey, the artist's dentist, when in residence at Stilman College, Tuscalusa, Alabama.

Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser’s risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests.
