Lewis Miles Pottery, Edgefield, South Carolina, mid-19th century, medium brownish-olive alkaline glaze, ovoid with two lug handles, impressed on shoulder "L. Miles." below ridged neck, two punch and slash marks impressed at back shoulder, 12-1/2 in.
glaze voids and anomalies as made, "BB" hole and interior loss at shoulder near lug handle and slash marks, firing crack with associated clay void at base, 1/2 in. glaze chip at belly, edge wear and minor chips around base edge
