Kano Naonobu (Shoei), (Japanese, 1519-1592), [Flowers and Birds in Four Seasons], a pair of six panel wall screens, black ink on paper, signed with seals of Naonobu, 67 x 145 in. each. Notes: Kano Shoei was the son of Motonobu. Documentary evidence proves that both Motonobu and Shoei used a seal traditionally in the Kano family. It must be fairly plausible to attribute the painting to Shoei. Prepared by Nakamura,Tanio., Tokyo National Museum. Provenance: Mayuyama & Co. Ltd, Tokyo, 1970, sales slip available to buyer; Property from a Palm Beach, Florida Estate
