[Allez Voir Le Grand Patineur/Rue Jean Goujon, No. 27], circa 1867-1872, unsigned, Julien Derivière, Paris, printer, color lithographic advertising poster on two sheets of paper, 42-1/8 x 29-1/2 in.; metal frame, conservation acrylic, 42-3/4 x 30-1/8 in.
Note:This rare poster depicts W.H. Fuller, who had been awarded National Champion Skater by The Skating Club of New York in both 1865 and 1866. The assumption that the reader would know that [le grand patineur] was W.H. Fuller demonstrates the degree to which figure skating entered the popular culture of the nineteenth century. His name is not mentioned, only the phrase "go see the great skater."

Shipping arrangements are made only after the invoice is paid. The payment for shipping is a separate charge from payment of your lots.
Sales Tax: If you live in North Carolina and/or pick up from the auction house, and do not have a valid resale tax number on file with us, you MUST pay North Carolina state sales tax. The NC Sales Tax will not apply to any items being shipped out of state (unless the client resides in North Carolina) or to those clients with a resale tax number.
