(1841-1845) Two items: a partially-printed document dated June 29, 1841 and signed by President Tyler, authorizing the Secretary of State (Daniel Webster) to affix the Seal of the United States to "the remission of the forfeiture and certain pecuniary penalties incurred by Capt. Pierce…", a double-fold sheet printed on one side, with contemporary descriptive note on verso, 9-3/4 x 8 in. (one side), fold wear and age toning otherwise very good condition; hand-written letter dated December 30, 1842 and signed by Tyler to J. C. Stickney regarding a possible appointment to the Navy, a folded sheet written on one side measuring: 10-1/8 x 8 in., lightly age-toned and minor wear at the extremities otherwise very good condition; Provenance: R.
