bronze, with Athena and a winged horse in bas relief recto, engraved "Minnie R. Stern Memorial Award/ FOR MERIT", engraved verso, "AUDUBON ARTISTS/11th ANNUAL, 1953/awarded to/JOHN R. GRABACH", edge stamped "Medallic Art Company N.Y.Bronze", approx. 3 in. dia. - Note: John Grabach was known for depicting everyday scenes of a working class New York City. His paintings are displayed in the permanent collections of many prominent museums, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
