Note: John Payne was an artist active in Asheville, North Carolina who primarily worked with metals. He is noted as a pioneer of the city's River Arts District, where he founded Wedge Studios after converting a 100-year-old triangular three-story building into a studio for his metal "Kinetosaurs" sculptures and leasing the remaining studio spaces to fellow artists at subsidized rental prices. His metal work is on permanent display at the Wedge Studios property.
