Stanley Hawk, Plate XXXVI, No. 8 from The Birds of America, London, 1827-1838, Havell edition, hand colored engraving with etching and aquatint on paper with "J. Whatman/1836" watermark, sheet 37-3/4 x 24-5/8 in. ; modern wood frame with Tru Vue Museum glass, 49 x 35-5/8 in., Provenance: Audubon Prints & Books, Vienna, Virginia, purchased in 2011, (accompanied by a certificate of authenticity); Private Virginia Collection; Note: This bluebird also appears in Plate CXIII, one of only two times Audubon uses the same bird.

Condition

hinged in, 5 in, 3-7/8 in. tears from right side, one into hawk's tail, both supported with Filmoplast archival tape, restoration to bottom two corners, other small restorations of tears at edges, toning, trimmed, light foxing

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
