Note: John Brown ordered 1,000 of these pikes from Charles Blair at Collinsville, Connecticut to arm the slaves - 954 were delivered to him at Harper's Ferry. When John Brown was captured at Harper's Ferry, General Lee ordered Jeb Stuart to search the Kennedy farm nearby where Brown lived. Here the pikes were found - half were given to neighbors and spectators and the other half sent to the Richmond Armory where they were later used by the Confederate Cavalry.

According to consignor notes, this pike was found in a box of steel traps in the barn at a farm sale in 1994 just a few miles from the Kennedy farm.
