Northwest Passage, In Port, circa 1905, signed lower left "Jessie Willcox Smith", also titled and signed in  pencil lower left, ink on buff colored artist board, sheet 12-1/2 x 14-1/2 in; gilt wood frame, 20 x 21-1/4 in.; together with a watercolor by Doris Spiegel,(American, 1901-1996), Pine Tree Inn, signed lower left "Doris Spiegel", watercolor on board, 13-1/2 x 16-3/4 in.; silver finished wood frame, 20-1/2 x 23-1/2 in.

Note: This work by Jessie Willcox Smith is an illustration for the 1905 edition of Robert Louis Stevenson's iconic collection A Child's Garden of Verses, first published in 1885.

Condition

The Smith with mat burn, attached to mat backing with archival tape, drawing in otherwise good condition; frame with minimal wear, linen mat in good condition; The Spiegel taped to mat with archival tape, slight toning: frame with minimal wear

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
