19th century, black lacquered cylindrical case with two hinged doors opening to carved and gilt buddha seated on lotus base above tiered platforms, set against carved and gilt mandorla, closed 9-1/2 x 4-1/2 x 3-3/8 in., opens to 9-3/4 in.
Condition
surface dirt and accretion, some losses to gilding, a few chips and losses to lacquer, proper left door with later replaced hinges, now rusted (door opens but sticks)
