late 18th/19th century, lacquered, painted, and gilt decorated multi-part zushi cabinet on plinth, four panel folding doors with bronze dharmachakra and scrollwork appliques opening to interior with molded curtains over fitted tiered base, housing a twenty-armed bodhisattva figure, possibly Samantabhadra, on a lotus and elephant throne with lokapala figures, figure 14 x 11 x 7 in.; cabinet overall 28 x 16-1/4 x 12-1/2 in., opens to 29-1/2 in.

Condition

surface dirt, scattered chips and losses to lacquered surfaces throughout, especially at case exterior, scattered losses to gilding, doors lacking some bronze mounts at door panel corners, typical losses to plinth where shrine case sits; figure lacking several elements at hands (several unused holes), upper half of vajra missing, one lokapala figure at proper rightmost elephant missing, a few elephant tusks missing, lotus base with two petals off but retained, chips and losses to elephants' feet (one piece retained)

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
