5th President of the U.S. (1817-1825) hand-written letter from Monroe dated July 11, 1803 to Nathaniel Cutting, President Thomas Jefferson sent Monroe to France to assist in the negotiations that resulted in the Louisiana Purchase, this letter praises Cutting's service, Cutting was a sometime diplomatic official involved in the negotiations, a bi-fold paper with writing on the outside surfaces, with wax seal still present, measuring 9-7/8 x 8-1/8 in.
