5th President of the U.S. (1817-1825) hand-written letter from Monroe dated July 11, 1803 to Nathaniel Cutting, President Thomas Jefferson sent Monroe to France to assist in the negotiations that resulted in the Louisiana Purchase, this letter praises Cutting's service, Cutting was a sometime diplomatic official involved in the negotiations, a bi-fold paper with writing on the outside surfaces, with wax seal still present, measuring 9-7/8 x 8-1/8 in. (folded); together with [Message from the President of the United States…. December 2, 1823] by James Monroe, Washington: Gales and Seaton, 1823, the first edition in book form of the "Monroe Doctrine" and important, thus, 8-7/8 x 5-1/2 in.; Provenance: letter: Joseph Rubinfine, 1996; Property from the Duke Family Collection

In house shipping.  Brunk Auctions provides in-house shipping via UPS Ground (signature required) for many items. Brunk Auctions will provide a shipping quote which includes shipping, materials, labor and insurance.  Insurance is based on the selling price and premium.

Shipping arrangements are made only after the invoice is paid.  The payment for shipping is a separate charge from payment of your lots.

Sales Tax: If you live in North Carolina and/or pick up from the auction house, and do not have a valid resale tax number on file with us, you MUST pay North Carolina state sales tax. The NC Sales Tax will not apply to any items being shipped out of state (unless the client resides in North  Carolina) or to those clients with a resale tax number.
