Garfield's clipped signature, 1-5/8 x 4 in., very slightly foxed otherwise very good condition; together with three Charles J. Guiteau items: Guiteau's business card, 2-3/8 x 4-1/4 in., toned otherwise very good condition, and two Guiteau signatures on small cards, 2 x 3 in., very good condition; Guiteau assassinated Garfield on July 2, 1881, his trial was long and sensational and he would sell his signature to raise funds for his costly defense, he was hanged on June 30, 1882; Provenance: Guiteau business card- Peter Stern Booksellers; Guiteau signatures: R. Shipping arrangements are made only after the invoice is paid. The payment for shipping is a separate charge from payment of your lots.
Sales Tax: If you live in North Carolina and/or pick up from the auction house, and do not have a valid resale tax number on file with us, you MUST pay North Carolina state sales tax. The NC Sales Tax will not apply to any items being shipped out of state (unless the client resides in North Carolina) or to those clients with a resale tax number.
