Young Man with Bird Dogs and Fowl, 1856, signed lower right "J.W. Barsham/1856", oil on canvas, 25-1/8 x 20 in.; early 20th century gilt wood ripple molding frame, original stretcher and tacking edge, stretcher marks, flaking, crackle, some cupping and cleavage, uneven varnish with remnants of older varnish evident under UV light; frame with abrasions. Notes: A "J. W. Barsham" is listed in the The Commercial Advertiser Directory for the City of Buffalo, 1859. A portrait of Christopher Columbus Graham signed "J. W. Barsham" is in the collection of the Kentucky Historical Society and was painted in Louisville, Kentucky.. Provenance: From a New Hampshire Seacoast Collection
