(French, circa 1900) Art Nouveau bronze-finished cast metal figure of a maiden standing atop a frosted glass rocky plinth-form base, back of maiden signed "J. Caussé", glass unsigned, overall height 23-1/2 in., figure with surface wear to finishing, icy plinth with chips near post for figure at top and bottom (not apparent when figure is in place), otherwise good condition. Notes: Exhibited: "A Thing of Beauty", High Museum, Atlanta, 1980. Published: [A Thing of Beauty], figure M.7, page 71. The exhibition catalog notes: "This figural sculpture known as The Ice Fairy ([La Fee de Glaces]} appeared in February, 1901, in [L'Arte Decoratif]. It is the work of Julian Caussé, a French sculptor who produced many 'bronzes d'arte', and Ernest Leveilleé, who fabricated the base of opalescent glass to resemble melting ice"..
