Scottish, circa 1800, arched pediment with foliate blind fretwork, stop fluted Corinthian column supports, Gothicized glass panels, bronze mounted Roman numeral dial marked "J.A. Mylne, Montrose", brass movement, cartouche lower door, paneled base, includes pendulum, weight, and winder, 83-1/2 x 19 x 10-1/2 in.

Provenance: Property from the Thomson House, 5th Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, built by Thomas Chalmers Darsie; by descent to Anne Darsie Thomson then to Robert Thomson; Gifted 2014 to Chatham University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania  

Condition

lacking finials, pediment with losses and separations, capitals of columns with remnants of old gilt that was painted over some time ago, dial with wear, abrasions, and oxidation, lower door with molding losses and repairs, base with shrinkages and edge losses, proper right return of base is missing molding, pendulum with abraded surface, other general imperfections from age and significant use, clock functionality not tested

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
