Stoneware Crock (Isaac Hewitt, Jr. 1842 - died after 1920's), late 19th century between 1870 - 1880's; salt glaze, cylindrical form with two applied lug handles, fine cobalt tulip and vine freehand decoration above and below, stenciled cobalt "Excelsior Works, Isaac Hewitt, Jr., Rices Landing, PA", stamped "5" at front and back shoulder, turned rim, 15-5/8 in., good condition, glaze flaws and anomalies as made, firing cracks interior, glaze scratches.
