(Edgefield, South Carolina, 1811-1881) likely made at the C. Rhodes Pottery, Edgefield District, South Carolina, circa 1841-1850, elongated ovoid form, runny green and brown alkaline glaze, creamy green runs to back of jar, small applied kaolin slip sunflower design with kaolin slip "3" capacity mark on front shoulder, two applied kaolin slip foliate decorations at opposing side of front shoulder, thick arching strap handle to back of jar with apparent circular iron slip at handle terminuses, 15-3/4 in.
