Hunter Baltimore Rye: The American Gentleman's Whiskey, Wm. Lanahan & Son, circa 1900, chromolithograph on tin, 38 3/4 x 26 1/8 in.; original wood frame, painted to cover bottom portion of advertising text, portions of text show through, dents, scratches with some paint loss, corrosion near edge on bottom right corner, possibly varnished and yellowing.. Notes: Hunter Baltimore Rye was owned and operated by the Lanahans, a prominent Baltimore family. It was marketed as "The American Gentleman's Whiskey" and branded with a formally dressed fox hunter. Lanahan's signs graced outfield fences in major league baseball parks in New York and Chicago as well as in Baltimore.. Provenance: Longpine Plantation, Thomasville, Georgia
