.58 Minie ball; .54 ball, 33 in. round barrel, barrel tang dated "1850" and barrel stamped "U.S./JH/V/P", "U.S." stamped on top of the buttplate in small letters, over-sized brass patch box, lock plate marked "HARPERS/FERRY/1853" in three vertical lines behind hammer, small Eagle and Shield motif above "U.S." stamped ahead of hammer, brass furniture, a nice example of a rifle used in the Civil War; Provenance: Estate of The Honorable Thomas Alexander Lohm, Maryland
possibly in original condition, barrel with dark brown patina, barrel appears to be clean, marks, wear and dents consistent with age and use
