French, after Jean Goujon (1510-1565), urn with kneeling figure of merman holding the rim, seated putto holding a shell below, neck with prominent shoulder supported by acanthus leaves, body with elaborate floral chasing and a seated Artemus with a stag and a dog, verso with putti in a Bachannalian scene with a reclining virgin, lion mask with fruit and flowers on pedestal base on octagonal marble platform, signed "Jean Goujon", 21-3/4 in. overall good condition, marble with base chips, one base with chip at point on base.
