British, 18th/19th century, scrolled pediment centering phoenix resting on tree branch, mahogany frame with gilt moldings and carved and gilt streamers, 63-1/2 x 26-1/4 x 3-3/4 in.

Provenance: According to the donor, descended in the family of Bethuel Washburn (1746-1791) and his wife Gerritje Lansing Bradt (born 1748), Brookfield and Albany, New York to Mrs. Anne Virginia Wright of Victoria, British Columbia; Property Deaccessioned by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, Virginia; all proceeds to benefit the Collections Acquisitions Fund

Note: Notes in the curatorial files at Colonial Williamsburg discuss the possibility that this could be a 19th century copy of an 18th century mirror.

Condition

good integrity overall, phoenix head restored and with paint retouch, scattered gilding losses and retouch, mirror plates probably replaced (not removed for exam), other cracks at moldings, scattered typical flaws

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
