early to mid-19th century, 18 in. x 13 mm. gold-plated necklace with 1-1/2 x 1-1/4 in. drop pendant, set with approximately 42 oval faceted brownish red garnets, (tests indicate almandite garnets), total garnet estimated weight from 90 to 100 carats, accented with 2.5 mm. seed pearls, 48.5 grams condition good for age, one pearl missing, light tarnish.
