Land Survey, 1752
a two-sided hand-written document with a drawing of a plat on land, an area of 340 acres with the names of neighbors on two sides, the land is located in Augusta County, at age 17 in 1749, Washington was appointed official surveyor for Culpeper County, a well-paid position which enabled him to purchase land in the Shenandoah Valley, the first of his many land acquisitions in western Virginia, 6-3/4 x 11-3/4 in. good only, evidence of folding and possible archival repair where there is loss to the paper, some loss at the extremities have also been repaired.
