Note: A Japanese born photographer based in North Carolina, George Masa’s images were instrumental in the establishment of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. His documentation helped advocate for and preserve one of America’s most cherished landscapes. In this photograph is Tom Alexander, the founder of Cataloochee Ranch, at the fishing camp with his wife and family.
