Mahogany Tall Case Clock circa 1800, unsigned arched dial depicting a naval battle, eight-day brass works, hand-painted spandrels representing monuments to naval commanders Nelson, Duncan, Abercrombie and Cornwallis, case with scrolled pediment, waisted case with quarter columns and banded inlay, with weights and pendulum, 89 x 22 x 10 in., lacking feet. rosettes and finials, dial with crackle and extensive losses to date and seconds rings, hood door with color variation, repairs and infill, case with extensive varnish distress, some cracks and scattered losses to veneers, other distress and repaired damages throughout. Notes: Depicts the Battle of Trafalgar, October 21, 1805; Four women in each corner said to be the wives of the captains who were aboard the ships of the fleet.
