British, 18th century, octagonal top with ebonized molding centering a hand painted bucolic scene depicting shepherd and shepherdess in a landscape, tilting on an ebonized baluster turned pedestal base, back of top is grain painted, 28-1/2 x 30 x 30 in.

warping to top, break and repair at one leg, scattered pest damage, especially at pedestal base, expected surface wear, shrinkage, cracks, and scattered paint losses, scattered areas of retouch to painted top, some cracking (possibly an old repaint)
