William Post II on his Polo Pony Hermosa, 1930, signed and dated lower right "Geo Ford Morris 30", New Canaan, Connecticut colourman label board verso, pastel on board, 22 x 28 in.; probably original carved gilt wood frame, 26 x 32-1/2 in.; together with a inkwell made from the hoof of Mandalay English silver mounted, lid engraved with polo mallets, ball, and "HERMOSA/1937", marks for Roland Ward, London, 1937, 2-3/4 x 5-1/2 x 5 in.; together with an inscribed copy of Portraitures of Horses, Morris, George Ford, Fordacre, Strewsbury, N.J.: Fordacre Studios, 1952.

Note: According to the family of the sitter, the horse hoof inkwell was made for William Post II by his friend Seymour Knox Jr., well known Buffalo, New York, business man, philanthropist, patron of the arts and polo aficionado.
