late 19th century, red marble column form base with gilt bronze panther head mask appliques, surmounted by bronze statue after Adrienne Gaudez (French, 1845-1902) marked "A.Gaudez" and "Tresor des Mers", dial with raised gilt bronze numerals and hinged glass panel, eight day time and strike, works stamped "6374", with pendulum and key, 33-1/2 in. - Provenance: surface dirt layer and accretion, scattered surface scratches and cracks throughout, some small chips and edge wear, statue not secure on base, some scratches and wear where statue sits on pedestal, some numerals possibly repaired or replaced (some with adhesive residue), not tested for functionality
