19th century, elongated octagonal base with grapevine, torch, and other classical decoration, surmounted by classical figures drawing wine from barrel, metal dial situated in barrel, dial marked "Carault(?) a Paris/Faub. St. honore", pierced back door opening to works, with pendulum, 13-1/2 x 12-3/4 in. - Provenance: Lineberger Estate, Duke Mansion, Charlotte, North Carolina; by descent in family scattered surface scratches, some dents and warping, surface dirt layer and accretion, areas of discoloration and tarnishing throughout, some elements slightly loose, attachments for feet slightly warped/bent (one foot resting at an inward angle), pendulum possibly associated (stamped "Made in England"), not tested for functionality
