Bronze-Mounted Armchair design attributed to Jacob Desmalter for the French Imperial palaces, early 19th century, seat frame twice stamped with "P" and inscribed "No 208", 37 in. pest damage with some associated losses to seat frame, two later seat braces, bronze mounts likely regilt, modern upholstery generally good condition with light wear. Notes: Accompanied by an assessment by Guy Delmas, certified expert, signed in Paris, October 2014. Delmas notes that "these were ordered and delivered to the Emperor Napoleon by Jacob Desmalter, who was Master Cabinet Maker for the French Empire under Napoleon. This armchair dates back to the beginning of the 19th century and it bears, on the back stretcher, a Chateau Stamp and a National Palace stamp that cannot be identified, due to a small repair, but still retains the National Palace's inventory number"..
