early to mid 19th century, representing the allegory of music, stepped rectangular case decorated throughout with floral swags and musical devices in relief, mounted by vertical case enclosing white enameled porcelain dial with Roman numerals, flanked by pair of neoclassical musicians, lyre form finial with other musical instruments, with pendulum, winder key, 19-3/4 x 18-3/4 in., Provenance: Collection from an Important American Family
losses to gilt surfaces (especially to case verso), attached finial elements slightly loose, few chips to porcelain dial, some minor casting flaws, one floral swag with crack, scattered surface scratches, other typical surface abrasions consistent with age and use, exposed clockworks, lacking back, not tested for functionalityÿ
Condition
Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser’s risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
Items purchased from our Asheville auction facility not picked up within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item.
