early to mid 19th century, stepped case decorated with floral swags surrounding a lyre, mounted by vertical case enclosing white enameled porcelain dial with Roman numerals, flanked by standing flute player and guitar, music rack form finial with sheet music inscribed "Aire (?) du Troubadour", with pendulum, 14-1/2 x 13-1/2 in.ÿ, Provenance: Collection from an Important American Family
losses to gilt surfaces, attached sheet music slightly loose, guitar and bench attachments slightly loose, guitar missing two strings, crack and repair to guitar strap, few chips, scratches, and hairline to porcelain dial, some minor casting flaws, one break to floral swag with possible later replacement, scattered surface scratches, other typical surface abrasions consistent with age and use, exposed clockworks with possible later modifications, missing winder key, lacking back, not tested for functionalityÿ
Condition
Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser’s risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
Items purchased from our Asheville auction facility not picked up within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item.
