French, probably Burgundy, 15th century, fragment panel depicting partial scene from the Old Testament Book of Esther, possibly Queen Esther’s supplication to King Ahasuerus, two female figures with hennins and dresses trimmed in ermine fur kneel at left and center, figure at left appears to gesture to an unseen figure further to the left; center figure looks to the standing male figure at right, other courtiers stand in the background, framed by columns and top, narrow border, 78 x 55 in.
