two items: hand-written letter dated October 29, 1857 during Pierce's tenure as a U.S. Senator (New Hampshire, 1837-1842), includes a reference to Jefferson Davis, a large sheet folded in half and written on two sides measuring 9-3/4 x 7-3/4 in. (one side), age toning and some scattered foxing otherwise very good condition; together with a partially-printed document dated October 1, 1855 and signed by President Pierce, a land grant in the state of Iowa, with Presidential seal in lower left corner, 10-1/8 x 16-1/8 in., toned otherwise very good condition; Provenance: letter: David Schulson Autographs, Ltd., 1999; Property from the Duke Family Collection

Sales Tax: If you live in North Carolina and/or pick up from the auction house, and do not have a valid resale tax number on file with us, you MUST pay North Carolina state sales tax. The NC Sales Tax will not apply to any items being shipped out of state (unless the client resides in North Carolina) or to those clients with a resale tax number.
