Three quarter length portrait of a gentleman in a white coat with blue facings and a matching waist coat, said to be "Col. Astley" and by Joseph Highmore on the frame plate, unsigned, oil on canvas, 50 x 40 in.; gilt wood and composition panel style frame, 55-1/2 x 45-1/4 x 2 in.

Note: The drapery and clothing appears to be in the manner of artist Joseph van Aken. (circa 1699-1749) who was utilized by important portrait artists such as Allan Ramsay, Joseph Highmore, and others to execute background fabrics and clothing.
