(British 1851-1932)
Chestnut Racehorse with Jockey Up, oil on canvas, 19th/20th century, 32 x 42 in.; modern gilt wood frame, 38 x 48 in.
Note:This painting came with the tradition that this is a portrait of [Donovan], sired by Galopin, dam Malverina, Winner of the Derby 1889, owned by Lord Ellesmere. However, Donovan was a dark bay and not a chestnut horse as depicted in this painting.
