A Well To Do Young Lady in a Red Dress, unsigned, circa 1840s, oil on canvas, 33 x 26-1/2 in.; period carved gilt wood frame, 40-1/2 x 33 in.
Note: Young Lady in a Red Dress hung in the Osofsky family home for decades. No specific artist or sitter were ever referred to, but the painting was always referred to as Creole. No documentaion has been found to support this or any other attribution, and the origin of both painter and sitter remains a mystery.
