Paris, circa 1800-15, attributed toÿDihl et Gu‚rhard (French, 1781- c.1824), made for the American market, gilt painted to the center with two crossed 15-star American flags with olive branch between, maroon borders hand painted with instrumental reserves, the set comprising: two small bowls, each with underglaze blue letter "A", 7 in.; covered sauce boat with attached tray, 6-1/4 x 10 in.; round serving platter, reticulated rim, 10 in.; round basket, reticulated walls, 3-1/4 x 8-5/8 in., Provenance: Private Georgia Collection; Note: A similarly decorated plate with yellow border and American flag, attributed toÿDihl et Gu‚rhard, is in the collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, accession numberÿ1994.480.13.https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/15404
Condition
one bowl with short rim hairline, basket and sauce boat with probable repairs and paint retouch (see photos), platter with fading maroon border, some gilt retouch, other scratches and surface wear consistent with age and use
Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
