Probably Virginia, 1790-1820, unusually fine construction with paneled back and bottom, highly figured drawer facings with line inlay and teardrop escutcheons, on shaped skirt and tapered french feet, 38 x 38-? x 21-? in.Provenance: Robert D. and Fay H. Kilpatrick, Litchfield, Connecticut and Richmond, Virginia
excellent condition overall, top with some stains and minor infill, typical shrinkage cracks at case sides, veneer patch at skirt center, other typical veneer cracks and flaws, backboards with some old nail holes (likely reused wood but all appear to be original material to the chest), brasses replaced
