Austria, late 19th century, ebonized case elaborately set with enameled and gilt plaques depicting classical and mythological scenes, gilt bronze finials and mounts, ebonized case, fully finished case sides, turned tapered legs set with conforming enameled plaques, stretchers set with plaques and gilt mounts with gilt griffon finial, upper doors opening to elaborately fitted interior, each door fitted with five enameled plaques, case with six enameled dovetailed and gilt bronze mounted drawers, slant lid opening to felt lined writing surface and two additional drawers, each with additional panels with gilt bronze surround, 76 x 42 x 26 in.

very fine condition and quality throughout, most plaques in fine condition, with only scattered minor flaws, some chips and distress at central drawer panel at keyhole, scattered superficial wear and distress to ebonizing, typical minor bumps at moldings and edges with some possible retouch, scattered slight shrinkage cracks and wear to turnings, thin bronze rope surrounds to enameled plaques with scattered minor bending and distress, some losses to rope on rear panels, panels on rear legs with some slight edge and corner flaws, one rear leg lacking thin bronze mounts at upper turning, probably lacking mount at center top of pediment and lacking rear finials
