It descended in the Jones family to Miss Elisabeth Jones, whose possessions were sold by Dick Withington on August 20th, 1974. (The Jones farm is now the New Hampshire Farm Museum.) The chest sold for $5,000. The chest was purchased by Robert Avery Smith, a Vermont dealer. Smith later sold the chest to the Marshall Field Department Store, Antiques Department, and it was advertised by them in Antiques Magazine, July 1976. The Marshall Field Department Store sold the chest to Claire Cook, a Chicago collector. She consigned the chest on August 6, 2011 to Northeast Auctions, where it sold in August, 2011 for $17,700.; A Private New York Collection

overall good condition, shrinkage crack to one panel, brass handles replaced, two escutcheons replaced, light surface wear, stains, and minor abrasions
