Charleston, South Carolina or British for the Charleston market, 1760-1775, each with pierced splat, upholstered slip seat and square legs with stretchers, each stamped on back rail "HN" or "NH", seat braces and blocking are beech by sight, 37-1/2 in. - Note: Other chairs with identical splat designs also stamped "HN" on the back rails are known with early Charleston, South Carolina histories.
