French, late 18th/early 19th century, each with figural patinated bronze maiden and putto, supporting a gilt bronze spiraling cornucopia issuing six candle arms, with rooster motif and flaming urn finial, on a stepped breche violette marble base inset with gilt bronze mounts, 37-1/2 in.; accompanied by copy of invoice from Apple & Carpenter Gallery of Fine Art, November 18, 1991 for $12,000Provenance: purchased from Apple & Carpenter Gallery of Fine Art, Sarasota, Florida, 1991; Private Florida Collection
both maidens with small area of infill to one back shoulder (possible repairs), small area of infill to one maiden's back shoulder, some tiny cracks to inset bronze mounts, few minor casting flaws, light abrasions and discoloration to patinated surfaces, some verdigris and gilt loss, some mounts slightly loose, marble with inclusions, some hairlines, and scattered flea nicks with some small areas of infill, other abrasions an surface wear consistent with age and use
Condition
For regional auctions, purchased items not picked up in Richmond by noon on Sunday will then be returned to our Asheville location auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
