19th century, each with fine embroidered silk panel depicting exotic birds, among prunus branches, with openwork carved wooden frames, each resting on an openwork carved stand with foo dog supports, at base of each frame is a calligraphic inscription, 33 x 25 x 10 in.  - Provenance: Collected in Shanghai, China prior to 1902 by Frederick and Margaret Haskell; By descent in family to Frances Arnold; Private Collection, Newnan, Georgia - Note: Objects from this personal collection were acquired in Shanghai, China between the years 1862-1902. They were collected by Frederick and Margaret Haskell. Mr. Haskell was the owner of the Japan and China Trading Company. The couple retired to Lake Weir Florida in 1902, bringing these collected objects with them to the United States and they descended through the family to current day. Condition

silk panels in fine condition overall with some light staining and areas of minor discoloration, separations and repairs at frame joints, some paint splatter at bases, scattered losses, damages, and repairs to openwork carving overall (two long skirt elements partially survive and are currently detached, one upright detached but intact, second upright largely intact but missing an end member and currently detached), one back panel with repairs to wood veneer, two minor tears to paper lining of embroidery (both tears in paper lining do not affect the embroidered silk); other screen not examined out of frame
Purchased items not picked up in Richmond by noon on Sunday will then be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
