Massachusetts, 1740-1760, highly figured walnut top with molded edge and cusped front corners, over four dovetailed drawers with engraved brass pulls, shaped skirts with turned drops, on cabriole legs with pad feet, case and legs with mellow old surface, rich brown color overall, white pine secondary, 30 x 34-1/4 x 21 in. - Note: The absence of a drawer in this Philadelphia table suggests it was intended for use as a center table or tea table. - Provenance: Wayne Pratt Antiques, purchased January 1994 for $54,000 (accompanied by copy of receipt); Private Virginia Collection
Condition
good condition overall, each front pad foot with small patch, possible restorations to possibly original skirt drops (minor repairs at wafers), appears to retain its original brasses (slightly reset), typical shrinkage cracks to case sides, scattered bumps and abrasions, strip patch to one side of back edge of top (back edge of top is molded but does not appear to be altered)
