British, late 18th/early 19th century, hinged domed top finely inlaid with satinwood and ebony, figure of Aphrodite reclining on a dolphin while holding a mirror within a banded oval, three sides with inlay, open interior, silvered escutcheon and egg-and-claw feet, 7 x 18-3/4 x 11 in., losses to veneered surface, minor veneer repairs, drying splits to bottom, lacking interior paper liner.
