England, circa 1760, finely proportioned with mahogany veneers, red cedar and other mixed secondary woods, boldly carved swan's neck pediment over two glazed doors opening to adjustable glass shelves, scrolls set with carved acanthus decoration, dentil molded cornice, fitted secretary drawer, original gilt bronze hardware, on ogee bracket feet, 93 x 21 x 43 in. - Note: This bookcase is illustrated in the 2015 Mallett catalog on pages 34-37. - Provenance: Mallett Inc., London and New York; Estate of Robert K. fine condition overall, interior refitted with felt lining and glass shelves, original feet and blocking with some minor cracks and repairs at facings, checks and warping to lower door panels, minor repairs at swans necks with some later plugged screws, other possible repairs at scrolls?, break and glue repair at central finial plinth, top boards with numerous holes from refitting interior
Condition
Purchased items not picked up in Richmond by noon on Sunday will then be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
